once upon a many Saturdays ago, I went to Pulau Ubin with my girls, Zhisheng and Wei Chong. Beauties and the beasts. hee.
Before I met up with the girls, I had 2 classes. & my 2nd class kids were mischievous that day. Primary 4 kids talking about sex? refused to take down notes, called names, walked out of the room to buy food when i was teaching, took my HP and read my msges, stuck their tongues out at me & video me when i'm teaching.
I wouldnt mind what they do in class as long as they listen and do their work cause I want my kids to enjoy their learning. Walking around, listening to music or eating is definitely fine with me. but what they did really crossed the line.
I've asked my sister before- will she prefer a less academically inclined but hardworking kid or a smart but complacent one. As a tutor, nothing satisfies me more than seeing someone diligently taking down notes and doing their best to try the questions whether or not their answers are correct, no? My P1, 5& 6 kids make me look forward to their lessons cause we can chat, have fun and still get things done. Some Singaporeans are really living in their own comfort zone, too comfortable for their own good. My 2 most hardworking students are from Korea, trying so hard to understand the foreign language that I am teaching. They might take a lil more effort to teach but if they are willing to learn, I am equally willing to teach.
then finally, my blood vomiting session ended at 1.30pm and I dashed down to Changi to find the girls who've decomposed from waiting for me. haha. Finally reached there at 2.30, had lunch and off to the jetty into the arms of the mosquitoes.
On the bumpy boat, heading towards the land of happy mosquitoes!
On the boat (: Gonna get killed for posting this up muahhaha
Anyway I wanted to wear shorts initially cause it was stiffing hot but Gypsy managed to psycho me out of it. Comfort VS mosquitoes harassment. And i chose to give up the former so i turned up looking like a farmer going to gen1 tian2, thanks to my great friends who pointed that out to me hahaha..
& we arrived at Pulau Ubin 5 minutes later. Rented a bike and headed towards Chek Jawa Wetlands. And not long after, I FELL OFF MY BIKE!!! On an incredibly safe road. The angle of slope is less than 15 degrees haha. And the culprit was non other than a fly that zoomed into my eye at top speed. and the next moment i was "AH!! boomed. HAHA"
I screamed, I fell, and i cannot stop laughing. I DONT KNOW WHY. hahaha.
that planted me 10 blueblacks on my knees, thighs, elbow and ribcage. Internal injury ahha. cause the bike crashed onto my body and caused me to be entangled in a mess at an awkward position. In short it was unglam to the max hahaha.
K moving on... I started avoiding all the slopes. Very kia si... haha. and finally arrived at Chek Jawa! The long tedious and mosquitoy journey was all worth it.
Climbed up the viewing tower and the gap between each step was horrifying big. and that scare the hell out of Lee Kiang and I who were super scared of heights! So that took us twice the time to wobble up. but the scenery was rewarding. Breathtaking much! = ) and....mosquitoless hees. so we comfortably took out our mats, food and refused to get our butts going haha.
lush green forest. wanna capture the beautiful sight but this dirty green picture seriously doesn't do the real version justice :(
Finally, with much reluctance, we restarted our engine and went ahead with the boardwalk along the sea.. At this time, Gypsy and her nan ren arrived. We get to see different creatures on the marshy land, weird mutilated mini crabs, mudskippers, barnacles, mangrove etc =) BUT.. i didnt get to see the starfish that everyone saw!
It's about late evening by the time we are done with the trail. cycled back and off we are on a bumpy ride back to the main land.
went to Changi Village and had a seafood feast. but was very cheated cause the portion was pathetic for big eaters.
We were all sticky + smelly and very very lang bei at the end of the day, so we put off our plans to go sherlin house. It was a fantastic day and.. I finally get to go to Pulau Ubin! A very strong sense of suakuism :D
